In preparation for this THC-enhanced spectacle, we looked back at some other gems in the genre of stoner flicks. Since the early days of Cheech and Chong, filmmakers have sought to capture the hilarity and mayhem that may or may not occur when one smokes up. While some of us remain glued to our couch, er, watching these movies, apparently pot spurs these rare protagonists into having weird and wild adventures.
Is this due to a magical only-in-Hollywood strain of marijuana? Perhaps. But without getting to test that theory, we instead have devoted ourselves to studying the tangible artifacts possessed by these adventurers. The result of our work is on exhibit before you: a catalog of primitive and advanced smoking tools, vehicles, accessories, furniture, and even weapons that have held pivotal importance in the stories of these bold and baked characters. Be warned: Just reminiscing about the glory of these objects has been known to inspire a contact high. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery after reading this.
The Fiberweed Van
Up in Smoke (1978)
Medium: THC resin, delivery vehicle
This flawed, but still genius invention of drug smugglers did, in fact, make it across the border into California with Pedro (Cheech Marin) and Man (Tommy Chong) at its helm. Though the flammable nature of its material proved to be advantageous in the presence of law enforcement (intoxicating anyone within range), it did eventually fulfill the title of the movie and go, ahem, up in smoke.

Mary-wana Cigarette
9 to 5 (1980)
Medium: Maui Wowie, rolling papers, hairspray fumes
While this may appear to be a simple joint rolled by a teenage boy, its artistic form is elevated by being smoked by three feminist pop culture icons, Violet (Lily Tomlin), Judy (Jane Fonda), and Doralee (Dolly Parton), who form a great friendship while high and envisioning their revenge upon their pig of a boss.

Belt Buckle Pipe
Dazed and Confused(1993)
Medium: stainless steel, late-'70s weed
The presence of this innovative multipurpose accessory worn by Randall "Pink" Floyd (Jason London) is fleeting, and those distracted by Wooderson's (Matthew McConaughey) ode to high school girls may not have noticed its beauty upon first viewing. Avid collectors, however, know the true value of this item, and what it means for a teenage boy to have acquired such a work of art so young.

Red's Bicycle
Friday (1995)
Medium: steel, lost dignity
This simple bicycle, owned by Red (DJ Pooh) is a symbol of the shifting power dynamic between neighborhood bully, Deebo (Tiny "Zeus" Lister Jr.), and unlikely hero Craig (Ice Cube). It's also just hilarious to watch Deebo try to look menacing while riding it, especially if you're high.

Persian Rug
The Big Lebowski (1998)
Medium: wool, white Russian
This museum attempted to acquire Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski's original rug, which really tied the room together, but urine damage destroyed the work at the turn of the last century. Instead, this work was procured from the so-called "Big" Lebowski in payment for troubles inflicted upon Lebowski during a case of mistaken identity. The newer artifact is, in fact, worth more and proves an excellent surface for solo dance performances.

Magic Hippie Necklace
Half Baked (1998)
Medium: hemp, beads, the ashes of Jerry Garcia
Purchased during the height of the success of Mr. Nice Guy — an operation run by Thurgood (Dave Chappelle), Brian (Jim Breuer), and Scarface (Guillermo Diaz), selling medical-grade marijuana — this necklace was at first considered to be merely a fake. In a time of crisis, however, Garcia's ashes came to life and rescued the trio from a rival's armed guards. It is unknown if its powers are reusable.

Life-Size Bag Of Weed
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)
Medium: Ziploc bag, marijuana, hopes and dreams
Originally owned by a dealer named Bradley, this stash had been confiscated by a local New Jersey police department that was also holding Harold Lee (John Cho), until both the bag and Harold were freed by friend Kumar Patel (Kal Penn). Kumar envisioned a lifelong romance with the bag, but they were forced to part ways as the stash was used to frame a gang of racist extreme sports fanatics.

Spiked Headband
Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005)
Medium: plastic, aluminum, decades of fabricated anti-drug myths
When sweet, innocent Mary (Kristen Bell) succumbs to the lure of dangerous reefer, she is transformed before our eyes into the world's cutest dominatrix, because that is totally what happens when you're stoned. The museum is still attempting to acquire the rest of Mary's leathers to complete the collection, but our curators suspect they are in the private possession of Bell and her husband, Dax Shepard.

The Communist Manifesto, by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
Smiley Face (2007)
Medium: Paper, bound in vinyl
This rare manuscript fell into the hands of Jane (Anna Faris), when she visited the home of an old Marxist studies professor while extremely, mostly accidentally high on marijuana-laced cupcakes. Besides its inherent historical value, the manuscript also provides evidence that although this girl is so blasted she can barely walk straight, she still retains her intellectual understanding of economic theory, and, deep down a moral compass that does not allow her to sell the artifact on eBay.
On display in DVD format only.
The Cross Joint
Pineapple Express (2008)
Medium: Pineapple Express marijuana, papers
Small time dealer Saul Silver (James Franco) is credited with this deceptively simple means by which to smoke more, faster, with three ends ablaze instead of the typical one. When smoked by Saul and his client, Dale (Seth Rogen), the two form a fast bond, despite circumstances that place them on the run from deadly dealers and corrupt police. This joint inspired a whole movement of creative, smokable sculpture.

Hot Tub
Hot Tub Time Machine (2010)
Medium: fiberglass, chlorinated water, Chernobly energy drink, the nostalgia of middle-aged men
While the accidental nuclear reaction that occurred in this hot tub could have ended in disaster, in the good-meaning way of a true stoner flick, it instead allowed Adam (John Cusack), Lou (Rob Corddry), Nick (Craig Robinson), and Jacob (Clark Duke), to travel back to the '80s. This single piece of spa equipment has hereby changed the way millions of marijuana users have viewed their hotel amenities from simple chill zones to sources of revitalizing inspiration.

Ax
This Is The End (2013)
Medium: wood, steel, traces of demon blood, the misguided Harry Potter-fueled fantasies of manboys
This useful tool helped actress Emma Watson survive the early days of the apocalypse in a sewer pipe on her own, before she then used it to enter the home of James Franco. Upon overhearing herself being objectified and possibly threatened by the houseful of immature actors from whom she'd sought shelter, she again wielded the ax to procure their remaining drinks and depart. To us, this is a symbol of woman's power in the face of danger, and the fact that rape jokes are definitely never funny, not even when you're high.
